Why is Community so Important in the Psychedelic Context?

As a professional coach and leader of a psychedelic society, I receive a number of inquiries from people throughout the US who want to improve their lives. I take the time to meet individually with each person to understand their concerns and to help them as best I can. Practically speaking, this is how I experience our broader community serving to help itself. Whether we’re aware of it or not, collectively we’re creating the healing community we seek each and every day. Because of this, great care needs to be taken with one another and the ideas, activities and recommendations we share with one another.

If what I’m being asked is beyond my scope or expertise, my help often takes the form of a referral to another more experienced colleague, or I point them toward books or other resources.

Here’s what people are asking about when I meet with them:

Some are seeking help with personal challenges, including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Addiction
  • PTSD
  • Insomnia

Others are looking for guidance with personal use of medicinal substances, including:

  • Microdosing with psilocybin: how to microdose, how to grow mushrooms, what microdose products to buy, and what the side-effects are
  • Macrodosing with psilocybin: with focus on specific personal challenges, many of which are mentioned above; how to safely conduct higher-dose journeys, and how to prepare and integrate
  • Questions about other plant medicines aside from psilocybin, including ayahuasca, DMT, MDMA, Kratom & LSD

How best can I serve those who are looking for help? As a coach and advocate of these medicines, I act from authenticity and love, and on behalf of the humanity in all of us. I use what I’ve learned in various trainings and certifications, and I use my growing intuition. Above all, I am mindful of my own ethical standards.

I am honored to serve the community in this way. I am also indebted to and practice reciprocity benefitting the indigenous traditions that are choosing to share these sacraments and practices with the western world. I encourage you who are reading this to consider how you are taking part in the community that we’re collectively creating, and how best you can contribute to the greater good, in whatever way possible. Thank you.
